What are the residents of Trenčín worried about? What do they hope for? What experiences have shaped them, and what kind of future do they imagine for their city? These questions were at the heart of The Town Tower Tells Its Story, a new large-scale video installation by world-renowned Polish-American artist Krzysztof Wodiczko, created as part of the Trenčín 2026 European Capital of Culture programme.

Glocal Equality and Hospitality (Invalidated Ideas?) is a major group exhibition opening on August 7, 2026, at the newly renovated County House (Župný dom) in Trenčín, Slovakia as part of the Trenčín 2026 – European Capital of Culture programme.

To mark the opening day of the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026, an evening event open to all will take place on 20 June, starting at 6 pm, celebrating friendship, culture and the ties between the two European Capitals of Culture: Trenčín and Nova Gorica / Gorizia.

The Green Line project, developed as part of the Trenčín 2026 – European Capital of Culture programme, will bring a series of artworks to public spaces from June to December 2026. Curator Oto Hudec’s concept combines art, environmental themes, community activities and expert reflection on the city and the landscape. Seven works by local and international artists will create a symbolic route across Trenčín, culminating in the exhibition ‘The Thin Green Line’ at the County House.
