From ceramics to the goldsmith's art, from wood to crochet, from digital art to the recovery of ancient manufacturing traditions. It is a true mosaic of Lucanian excellence that 44 artisans, makers and designers from all over Basilicata will present from 1 to 5 May as part of the third edition of 'Fucina Madre', the handicraft and design exhibition set up, for this edition, in the spaces of Le Monacelle, in Via Riscatto 15, in Matera, European Capital of Culture for 2019.

"Airfare - Digital Pathways for Cultural Innovation" is the winning project of the Public Notice TOCC (Digital Transition Cultural and Creative Organisations) Action A1 of the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of Italian Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU, presented by the BAD (Basilicata Digital Academy) network composed of the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation (lead partner), Matera Municipality, Confapi Matera, CNA Matera, ITS Academy Foundation of Basilicata.

In the last few days the Open Culture Volunteers Association has turned three years old, having been founded in February 2021 after Matera 2019.

In May 2024, a choir of children and adults will sing a lullaby for the city to unprecedented music based on the heritage of the lullabies of the citizens of Burgos and Matera.

There is a particular segment of the holiday industry that is origin tourism. Origin or roots tourism is characterised by those travellers who travel driven by the desire to get to know and explore the places where their relatives were born and of which, until then, they have only heard about. Basilicata, one of Italian regions mostly affected by emigration, stands out as a Research Lab for Roots Tourism. To this end, their ROOTS-in exchange is set as a regular annual meeting.
