On Friday, 12 December, members of the Liepāja 2027 community programme “Neighbourliness” gathered at the Kuldīga Art House for a workshop titled “Forum Theatre for Community Solutions”, facilitated by forum theatre expert Agnese Lapiņa.
After warm-up exercises incorporating elements of improvisation and image theatre, participants identified themes and everyday challenges that were personally meaningful to them, later bringing these topics to life through theatre. The workshop concluded with four short performances that highlighted pressing community issues and offered a safe space to experiment with different courses of action, fostering dialogue, collaboration, and potential solutions.
The atmosphere throughout the workshop was open and creative, encouraging active participation and the sharing of experiences. The forum theatre approach helped participants not only name the challenges they face but also view them from new perspectives. Working together made it increasingly clear how essential each community member’s involvement is and how, through collaboration, the first steps toward meaningful solutions can emerge.
The activities of the second round of “Neighbourliness” will be implemented by the association “Next”. The programme is organised by the Liepāja 2027 Foundation in cooperation with the Liepāja City Municipality, the South Kurzeme and Kuldīga municipalities, and with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
